Our Values
Paper Chain Book Publishing Services is a values-driven company. How we conduct our business matters to us, as does the quality of our work. Below are the major values that guide us.
We Uphold Industry Standards
Our work adheres to the industry standards for book design followed by major publishers. These standards are largely recorded in The Chicago Manual of Style (the style guide most publishers follow). This means the books we produce match the quality both retailers and readers expect from professional publishers. Whether we are working with an independent author of one book or a large commercial publisher, our commitment to these standards is the same.
We Follow Best Practices
It’s not just the final product we care about. It’s also how we produce it. We only work with professional designers proven to follow established best practices for using the tools of their trade. This ensures a smoother workflow from start to finish, and helps us maintain a high level of professionalism in all we do.
We Respect Intellectual Property Rights
We don’t steal from creators. Period. As a publishing services provider and not a publisher, we hold no claims to our clients’ work. All fonts and stock images we use in our design work are properly licensed and used within the terms outlined in the creator’s grant of rights. If materials provided by a client require a creator’s permission to use, we will help them take the appropriate steps to obtain permission.
We Welcome All Authors
We value diversity in publishing and want to work with authors from all walks of life. Regardless of your race, religion, skin color, sexual identity, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, or national origin, you are welcome here.
We Do Not Welcome Hate Speech
We won’t personally agree with everything our clients write, but a difference in perspective won’t stop us from working on a project and giving it our all. However, we draw the line at hate speech. We reserve the right to refuse work on books that vilify, humiliate, or incite hatred against a group or a class of persons on the basis of race, religion, skin color, sexual identity, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, or national origin.
We Don’t Ignore Accessibility
We strive to produce accessible products, especially our ebooks. Many readers with disabilities rely on ebooks, but too often during the ebook conversion process, accessibility standards are overlooked or ignored. This results in ebooks with limited accessibility features. We incorporate best practices for accessibility into our workflow to ensure these features aren’t ignored.
